2021 Jim Jadwin Memorial

10th Annual Jim Jadwin Memorial Tournament

Jim Jadwin, a mainstay of American Legion Baseball, was instrumental in putting together the Chillicothe Post 757 American Legion Baseball Program in 1969 after his own baseball career ended.

Jim, a former catcher, played 6 years in the Cleveland Indians minor league system ending his career at AAA Indianapolis. 

With Jim’s leadership and guidance, Post 757 Baseball players have received more than 65 college scholarships and seven professional contracts. 

Jim also served as the tournament director for the 2008 American Legion National Regional Tournament hosted at V. A. Memorial Stadium.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since it's inception in 2012, the Jadwin Memorial Tournament has hosted teams from several states including Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

James E. Jadwin

CHILLICOTHE: James E. Jadwin, 81, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning to be with our Heavenly Father. He was such a dedicated father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and coach. Jim lived his life for his family.

He was born July 16, 1930, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Clarence E. and Ella May Jadwin.

Surviving are children, Melanie Burgan, Sherri (Dave) Ben, Kim (Tom) Kellough, Kelly (Mark) Hansel, Brad (Kim) Jadwin and Stacie Copley, all of Chillicothe; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Harry G. (Barb) Jadwin, of Zanesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Steven James Jadwin; and a sister, Annalee Sorenson.

James served in the U.S. Army. He loved and served the Lord, his family, fishing buddy family and his American Legion baseball family. James absolutely loved the North Woods of Wisconsin. He had many friends, including special friends, Bob Hoffman, Art Devore, Leo Woods and Dick Stewart. James was a member of the Association of Professional Baseball Players of America through the Cleveland Indians Organization from 1948 - 1951. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 757 where he was past commander. He was instrumental in creating the Legion Baseball Program and the Legion Baseball field for over 40 years.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 in Brookside Church with Rev. David Dean and Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at Brookside Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday or one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

Isaiah 40:30-31 30. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall. 31. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint.

2018 Jadwin Memorial Seeding

Seeding is based on win/loss record, In case of a tie in points between two or more teams, the following tiebreaker system will be used to determine the seeding of the teams:

    1. Head-to-head record between the two teams that are tied for the final spot (head-to-head record only applied if tie is between two teams).
    2. Fewest runs allowed between the tied team/s.
    3. Highest total run differential; NOTE: Total run differential is the sum of each game's differential.   
    4. If there is still a tie, then the teams which are tied will come down to a coin toss.
