More snow in God's Country but hopefully spring is near and Mother Nature will settle down! In the meantime we are gearing for YOUR Chillicothe 757 Colts to kick off their 47th consecutive year of baseball in your backyard. In preparation for summer we have our routine activities like game scheduling, Jadwin Tournament activities, finalizing tournament schedules, ordering baseballs, uniforms, etc but this year also brings some new and exciting things!
2016 may be the year that's remembered for "Lighting UP DA HOFF!" and a major success for kicking off the Hoffman Restoration Plan. Many community members have worked very hard to make to achieve the phase I goal of bringing another lighted field to the Chillicothe area! Many more details will follow related to the opening ceremony and other events. In the meantime, I encourage all of our players, coaches, parents and alumni to say thank you to the Lighting Committee for all of their hard work!
Also good to mention that this is just phase I and we have a lot of work to do so anyone interested in learning more please let us know.
It's about that time of year again as people start praying for spring to finally hit in God's Country we start hearing questions from parents & players about dates of birth, etc. The Eligibility Chart below is provided by American Legion Baseball as a guide to help people easily dertermine eligibility. The chart below dictates how both our Senior and Junior American Legion teams determine age.
For the younger Post 757 Colts Baseball Teams we utilize a different cut-off date which states that a player's age on April 30th of the current year determines that player's "playing age for the current year". Is it clear as mud? Feel free to contact our coaching staff with any questions! You can also visit this page to calculate playing age for players interested in playing 13U, 14U or 15U.
The Post 757 Colts winterball activities officially ended yesterday as the Mannino Grand Slam USA High School Winter League comes to an end. The end of winterball is always a bittersweet time of year for me. It's very sad in some ways because it means that the window I have to work with my guys officially closes until summer baseball begins...of course it's sweet too because that means we are that much closer to baseball season!
This year adds something a little different as it will be the first time I have coached school baseball since the spring of 2011. Of course we had our customary hug and best of luck wishes during the spring season.... and this year brought back the "do everything you can to beat me on the field because I will do that to you!" and the "we are competitors on the field and all one team after the game".
I already know the hardest part of coaching the Adena Warriors baseball team this year and it won't be the time commitment, the x's an o's, or the parents....it will definitely be coaching against my guys during the high school season!
We will be scheduling a parent meeting for the the Senior and Junior teams in the coming weeks to discuss travel plans, scheduling, fundraising and logistics for the upcoming summer baseball season. I want to wish all of our guys the best of luck this spring season!!
